This jacket began its life as a quilt, carefully put together by a talented quilter who saved all of their selvedge edges ( the bit at the side with print on it that usually gets thrown away) and stitched them into diagonal squares.
The quilt has cotton batting inside, and a grey/fawn print on the reverse side. This jacket is not reversible, I have turned it inside out so that you can see the finish. I have bound all of the seams (to conceal the batting), and because it is quite thick so the binding gives a much neater finish.
I have cut the sleeves, collar and pockets from Black corduroy. I have covered the buttons in the same black cord. The sleeves are not lined.
An interesting piece you could wear all day, or pop on for errands. Due to the size of the quilt I have cut a Medium, and Large (almost perfectly, with no waste). I have more quilts I will work on, from memory they are greens, pinks and maybe a blue one.
